Their common feature is a sensor that detects smoke and fire differently, depending on the origin of the fire:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Ionization smoke detectors \u2013 they are more responsive to a flaming fire according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). These alarms use \u201cions,\u201d or electrically charged particles, to help detect smoke in the air.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Photoelectric smoke detectors \u2013 their main feature is that they are using a light beam to help detect the presence of smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img src=\"https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_10684\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/posts.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3301\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So, how to choose the appropriate detectors? The thing is that NFPA recommends to have both types as you don\u2019t know which type of fire could erupt in your home. And, the detectors are useless if they do not work properly.
