That plan started with a cooperation with an enthusiastic UK family, the Internet, and a crowdfunding\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The futuristic Solar Highways project will, of course, be powered by the sunlight energy. But the transformation from a family company\u2019s environmentalist dream to a mainstream reality was made possible only with the popular support and people\u2019s power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The technology is a long-term brainchild of Scott and Julie Templeton, who have almost tripled their initial goal of getting \u00a31 million through crowdfunding site Indiegogo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large\"><p>It was a necessity, in order to take the project to the next level and to build a prototype car park.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>With social media support from celebrities such as George Takei, Solar Highways\u2019 technology takes a place of the standard asphalt roads and parking spaces with innovative and energy-efficient high-tech solar panels that generate power, miscellaneous lighting patterns and can melt the winter snow and slippery ice off the roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"744\" src=\"https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161-1024x744.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161-1024x744.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161-768x558.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161-600x436.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ld-wp73.template-help.com\/wordpress\/prod_737\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img02-e1474285834161.jpg 1497w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s still 14 days of the fundraising campaign to go but the last count was \u00a32,975,577, way ahead of their initial target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The support isn\u2019t just financial, as their Indiegogo site and related educational videos on an environmental cause went viral and attracted about&nbsp;<strong>25 million views on YouTube<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The husband and wife are originally a pair of designers from Midlands, in the UK say their trademark panels would pay for themselves over time and provide clean, eco-friendly and renewable green energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They say that the glass used in the modular pavers that shield the solar panels can stand the weight of the heaviest of trucks (think 250,000 pounds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, they say, that it wouldn\u2019t just be suitable for roads \u2013 their dream is to see them on any surface we drive or walk on, from footpaths and driveways to playgrounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In short, our panels absorb the sun energy, then channelling it through discreetly placed wires to an inverter.
