Chess standards
Chess standards refer to established guidelines and principles that govern various aspects of chess play, education, and organization. These standards aim to ensure fair and consistent practices across chess tournaments, competitions, and educational programs.
They cover diverse areas such as chessboard setup, notation systems, time controls, tournament rules, and ethical conduct during play. FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs), the international governing body for chess, sets global standards that are widely followed in the chess community.

Format
- K - 2nd grade: up to 16 students
- 3rd - 12th grade: up to 20 students
- Taught by instructors from STLCC and moderated by school staff
- Classes are designed for one hour of instruction and practice on each day
